Privacy Policy

Last updated: 21 June 2026

This website, alexdpcollins.com, is run by me, Alex Collins, as an individual. This policy explains what personal information I collect through the site, why I collect it, who helps me process it, and the rights you have. If you have any questions, email me at hello@alexdpcollins.com.

What I collect

I only collect personal information when you choose to give it to me:

  • Newsletter: if you subscribe, I collect your email address (and your name if you provide it).
  • Contact form: if you get in touch through the contact page, I collect your name, email address, organisation (if you add it) and your message.
  • Anonymous usage data: I use privacy-friendly analytics to understand how the site is used, for example which pages are visited. This data is aggregated, does not identify you personally, and does not use tracking cookies.
  • Readiness check: the Escape the Deck readiness check runs entirely in your browser. Your answers are scored on the page and are never sent to me or to anyone else, and nothing about you is stored server-side. The privacy-friendly analytics record only anonymous, aggregate events (that the check was started and completed, and which of the four result types was shown), never your answers and nothing that identifies you.

Why I collect it, and the legal basis

  • Newsletter: to send you the emails you asked for. The legal basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by clicking unsubscribe in any email.
  • Contact enquiries: to read and respond to your message. The legal basis is my legitimate interest in responding to people who get in touch.
  • Analytics: to understand and improve the site. The legal basis is my legitimate interest, and the data is anonymous.

Who helps me process it

I use a small number of trusted providers who process this data on my behalf:

  • Beehiiv runs the newsletter and stores subscriber email addresses.
  • Web3Forms delivers contact form messages to my inbox.
  • Vercel hosts the website and provides the privacy-friendly analytics.

Each provider has its own privacy and security practices. I do not sell your data, and I do not share it with anyone for marketing.

Cookies

This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies, and the analytics I use are cookieless. If you interact with an embedded newsletter form, the provider may set functional cookies needed for that form to work.

How long I keep it

I keep your newsletter details until you unsubscribe. I keep contact enquiries for as long as I need them to respond and to deal with any reasonable follow-up, and then I delete them.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask me to: give you a copy of the information I hold about you; correct it if it is wrong; delete it; or stop using it. You can also withdraw your consent to the newsletter at any time. To exercise any of these, email me at hello@alexdpcollins.com.

If you are unhappy with how I have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

I may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
